Northern Continent of Kuru (北俱蘆洲, Běijù lúzhōu?) is one of the Four Great Continents in the Universe.[1]
Trivia[]
- In Buddhist cosmology, the Northern Continent is called Uttarakuru (俱盧州, Jù lú zhōu?) and is shaped like a square. It has a perimeter of 8,000 yojanas, being 2,000 yojanas on each side. The human inhabitants of Uttarakuru have cities built in the air. They are said to be extraordinarily wealthy, not needing to labor for a living – as their food grows by itself – and having no private property. They are about 15 metres (48 feet) tall and live for 1,000 years, under the protection of the deity Vaiśravaṇa.
